Professional IT Community Conference NJ/NY/PA/DE

Figured I'd go ahead and get the ball rolling.

My good friend over at Standalone Sysadmin is wanting to get the word out to as many people as possible about the up coming conference May 7th - 8th in Brunswick, NJ.

It sounds like it's going to be an excellent event to make if you can be in the area with some awesome speakers and training.

See any of the links below to get some further information about this exciting event:

Wow....can't believe it's been a year.

Well I'm not sure what I can say other then "wow....that was a quick year". I was thinking the other day that I needed to get back to writing on this blog. When I made it to the site I was a bit surprised to already see a year go by since I last wrote on the blog. Trust me when I say that I was all not too proud to see that it had been that long since I'd been on here. And to make matters worse I read my last entry about studying for my CCNA and here I am a year later and still have not actually taken the test.

So...I'm back and planning on staying. In fact I'm making it a point to stay. I plan on doing a weekly blog, maybe sometimes a little more if I can come up with enough to talk about.

Not that I've ever had many readers but hopefully once I get this going again I can get some people back on here.

Long Time No Type....

Sorry all for an extreme lack of my keeping up with this blog. I guess a good thing is I don't think I have too many people hitting this blog yet. I've been extremely busy at my work. I have moved over to our Managed Services department as a Analysis Engineer. Unfortunately I've been pulling double duty for the last month doing both my old job and trying to get into my new job. Luckily this next week I should be able to start really focusing on the new job. This will also hopefully mean that I will finally be able to start really hitting on this blog as well.

In my new job I will primarily at least in the beginning be working with Ipitomy 1000, 1200, and 1500 systems and also the Cisco UC500 systems. I am also starting to study for my CCNA, and after completing it will be moving onto the CCNA Voice.

Also, I plan on working with some other people in the industry to get them to write some posts on here as well once I get things picking up some more to get some different perspectives on different pieces of our industry.

Ubuntu Pocket Guide and Reference

I was on slickdeals.net earlier this morning and found a post for a free PDF Edition of Ubuntu Pocket Guide and Reference. Great deal for all of the Ubuntu users out there. I personally use Linux Mint but it runs on a Ubuntu core so is very useful to me as well. Below is a link to the download page:

Welcome Message

Welcome to my first post on this blog. This blog will be centered around the Telecom and IT industries.

I have been working in the Telecom / IT industry for over eight years now. I've worked with dial-up ISPs as support, as a technician in the wireless ISP business working both at customer sites and on cell towers, as a field technician for a CLEC, as a trouble screener for the same CLEC, and I now work for that same CLEC in our Managed Services department dealing directly with the engineering a trouble resolution of Ipitomy and Cisco based VOIP phone systems we are selling and supporting.

Now some info about this blog. The blogs will focus on my past, present, and future encounters in the field. Also, I will be posting information I find on other sites and blogs. And as a bonus I have lined up some people from the industry to write some posts as well. I welcome any comments / discussion you can bring to the table and any of you that would like to add your own column to the site contact me direct and I'd be happy to review it and put it on the site.
